$30m Harbour Town Eats satisfies outlet hunger

January 24, 2019: Australian property leaders Lewis Land Group and the Lendlease-managed Australian Prime Property Fund (APPF) Retail have invested $30M into Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.
The upgrades will create new job opportunities for the local economy whilst offering a world-class shopping and dining experience for customers.
Joint venture partners, Lewis Land Group and APPF Retail have marked the 20-year anniversary of Harbour Town Gold Coast, upgrading the centre’s dining and entertainment offering with the launch of Harbour Town Eats.
The newly renovated destination offers locals and tourists alike, the chance to dine at a range of new restaurants whilst soaking up the sunshine through Harbour Town’s iconic, outdoor open-air design.
The $30million expansion includes an additional 1,850m2 of retail space, refurbishment of existing seating areas, pixelated paving, palm inspired pergolas and shading, lush landscaping and water feature, along with upgraded amenities including a new parent’s room.
According to Lewis Land Group CEO, Chris Calvert, “Harbour Town Gold Coast is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Queensland with over 240 speciality tenancies and more than $460m in total moving annual turnover. It is the No.1 outlet centre in Australia.
Our new $30M dining and entertainment precinct, Harbour Town Eats, expands our food offer to 33 retailers, with 18 new tenants, creating 180 extra job opportunities across the region and continues to reinforce Lewis Land’s core vision of creating unique communities for locals and tourists to enjoy.”
APPF Retail recently acquired an additional 25% stake in Harbour Town Shopping Centre, bringing its total holdings to 50 percent.
David McNamara, Fund Manager APPF Retail said, “The centre is a drawcard for both locals and tourists alike, and the new Harbour Town Eats precinct provides a vibrant addition to one of the Gold Coast’s premier shopping centres.”
Harbour Town aims to capitalise on the shift amongst retail trends creating a more holistic consumer experience by bringing entertainment offerings to the forefront. Harbour Town Eats offers patrons a unique dining experience with “hawker style” Asian food retailers, casual dining favourites, café fare and a sports bar.
New tenants include Crafty’s, 8 Street, Zeus, and Sanctum. The new precinct, incorporating the Gold Coast’s most successful cinemas, Readings, will please all palates as well as the purse strings.
The Hon Stuart Robert MP joined Mr Sam O’Connor MP and Councillor Kristyn Boulton to officially open Harbour Town Eats.
